There are many ways to find and evaluate potential employers.
- Career centre - Register with the career centre, go to career fairs and attend on-campus interviews.
- Networking/referrals – Don't forget the obvious contacts such as your alumni association, if you have one. But also make enquiries among your friends and relatives. You'll be surprised what you can find out.
- Use the Internet, newspaper advertisements and trade publications to learn more about your field, occupation, industry or potential employer.
- Join professional societies and participate in group meetings to meet peers in your chosen field.
- Think about temporary work to get your foot in the door. It's your inside track to finding out about job opportunities within that organisation.
Getting the CV right
Your CV is an essential document in your pursuit of a place in the EGP. Make sure it is correct, easy-to-read and up-to-date.
