"I saw the EGP as a great opportunity to gain valuable business experience, travel and to use my languages. I looked at the EGP and was impressed by the diversity and the chance to experience different business areas.
"I've just completed my first year and a lot has happened. It's been a great time and I've felt valued. I've experienced several areas of the business and learnt a lot about the differences between a branch in the UK and a branch in France. In the last year, I've worked and lived in London, Warwick and Limoges. And I've attended training sessions or worked on projects in Reading, London, Paris, Lyon, Rennes and Bordeaux. I've worked in branch operations, category management, logistics, internal and external sales and customer service. The high point to date was probably having to present to the Board at the end of my first UK placement – nerve-wracking but a great experience!
"The EGP prepared me well for some of the cultural diversity I'd find. I've also developed a network of contacts in both countries which will be important as my career progresses. I've gained reallife business experience which has prepared me for the next phase as a manager. The branch work is an excellent way of learning about the sharp end of the business and to understand what it is that makes Wolseley so successful.
"I'd recommend Wolseley to anyone wanting to work for an international company, and who ultimately wants to pursue a career in Europe, or any of the 28 countries where we operate."
